On wednesday the 28th of August we began on our adventure to the airport on the rickety old bus.The first thing we did was that we went to a big room.we saw a few airplanes land and take off and all that  jazz. Then Taleta(Our instructor) shared with us about the flood in 1984. It was very interesting. Then we went to see where the bags go. Then we swapped with the other people to go to a hanger to see real planes and a flight simulator. We looked at few planes then we went to a room with the flight simulator. It's so real. After that we went in a real plane! Then we met back in the big room. Then we went back to school on the bumpy old bus.

Thanks very much to Karyn Cleary for the pictures :)

Tellagami

This week we discovered we could share our learning with tellagami. We also learned how important punctuation is when people are reading so that it sounds right. Tellagami says some of our names in a funny way.

The four forces of flight. The first thing is thrust.Thrust is going forward, like a racing car. Thrust is another word for forward. The second thing is drag. Drag is not like dragging a plank. It is another word for stop!
The third thing is lift. Lift is not like lifting something. Lift is going up into the sky. Lift is anther word
for up. The last thing is gravity. Gravity is not like you flying! Gravity is going on to the flat ground.
Gravity is anther word for down.So that's all thank you for reading our blog. By Raeffe

Gravity

Check out all this wonderful writing about gravity! There are some very tricky words in here, but the room 7 kids can tell you what they mean if you are a bit stuck.

Gravity is a force.

Really strong.
All things have gravity.
Venus has gravity
It is invisible.
Terrible if we didn't have it.
You have your own gravity.
By Shevin

Gravity helps us to stay on the ground.
Really hard to stay in the air when you jump.
All of us have gravity.
Varying amounts of gravity on different planets.
If you jump you will just fall.
Totally strong
You will fly away if there is no gravity.
By Jorja

Gravity is a force that keeps us on the ground.

Really tricky to stay in the air.
Always fall down if you're trying to float.
Volcanoes stay on the ground.
Invisible gravity, can't smell it, feel it or taste it.
Tables stay on the ground.
You have your own gravity in your body.
By Ryan

Gravity keeps us on the ground.

Really good for us.
All the planets have gravity.
Vast things have lots of gravity.
I have gravity around me.
Think it is invisible.
You have all got some gravity.
By Dillon

Gravity is a strong force.

Rain is affected by gravity.
A table has gravity.
Vast things have gravity.
It's invisible.
Terrible if there was no gravity.
You have all got gravity.
By Tammy

Great at keeping us on the ground.

Really good for us.
Around when the dinosaurs were alive.
Very helpful to us.
It's in the whole universe, even our bodies.
The Earth never loses its gravity.
You can't smell, taste, feel, or hear gravity.

Cross Country

Wow, what a lovely day for the cross country. It was fantastic to see how hard everyone from room 7 tried today. We had lots of children from our class in the top 10 in their age group. Here is a great photo from Conrad's family of the winners of the 7 year old boys race. Can you guess what positions they came in?

Milk in schools

Hey every 2 days we get free milk and we enjoy having it. slurp, slurp.drink it dry, fold it flat, send it back. The milk is made from anchor so it tastes great. So there is a technique to fold it and soon we might have a competition to see who is fastest. And every time we send the milk cartons back they get recycled into things like roof tiles. Thanks Fonterra!!

Temperature

This week we have been learning about thermometers. They have mercury inside them. The mercury can measure the temperature. By going up it tells us it is hot but when it goes down it tells us it is colder. There will be numbers to tell us the temperature.we made an experiment by putting some thermometers in some jugs the jugs were filled with water but the water wasn't the same temperature so after a few hours we looked at the thermometers and they all the same temperature cause the water cooled down to room temperature.
