When I grow up

The Astronauts writers are very good at using google drive, so they made their books a bit differently from everyone else. They used google slides and explain everything. (all the blank pages are so that they will look right when we print them out - and they look amazing!)

When I grow up I want to be...

ok google

Today we learned about 'Ok Google'. Have you ever tried it? Click on the microphone in Google search and say "Ok Google" then ask your question. We learned it is really useful for helping us to spell words but no so useful for spelling our names. Some of us had to practice talking more clearly so it could understand us too. It was a lot of fun - and did you know that if you ask it to spell a word it will say the letters out loud too?

Staying safe at the beach

How to be safe at the beach

Do you know how to be safe at the beach? Well! I do, so if you want to know how to be safe at the beach... listen up and find out.
You will need;

  • sunscreen
  • Strong shoes
  • safe adult

Step one. Blue bottle jelly fish.
Always look out for blue bottles because if you step on one you feet will have millions of blisters!! (Bring some strong shoes)
Step two. Sting rays.
Sting rays are one of the most dangerous sea animals in the world because if you step on one, or swim over one... it will sting you and kill you.
Step three. Coral.
When you go for a swim always be aware of coral because if you step on it you will get  cut.
Step four. Crabs
Crabs aren't that dangerous, but it can be very painful if you mess with a crab (unless its a baby crab because they are too little to pinch up).
Those are my fabulous instructions about how to be safe at the beach.

You will need;

  • Strong shoes
  • Adults
  • Sunscreen

It is important that you know how to be safe at the beach. Read my fabulous instructions about how to be safe at the beach.
Step one. Waves
Waves are really dangerous because you might drown in the water, like plop, you're gone. Thats why we are really careful and bring an adult.
Step two. Blue bottles.
Blue bottles are really bad because when you step on one it stings you as if you are attacking it.
Step three. Shells.
If you are walking on the sand and you see sharp sharp sharp shells throw them in the sea because shells  are pointy and prickly. Thats how we keep our feet safe from shells.
Step four. Strangers.
If I was you I wouldn't talk to strangers you don't know. Some strangers might keep you or capture you.
Step five. Creatures.
When you go in the atfer make sure that you do not go far because you might get eaten by a big white shark.
Those are my fabulous instructions that you need to know about.

Happy together

We watched this music video and loved it. (we love all the videos that the Piano Guys make!!) We decided that we needed to make our own versions of this. At writing time we wrote our scripts about our best friend (from school of course) and then had a lot of fun creating our own music videos. We used music from purple-planet as backing tracks. Thanks Piano Guys for being great inspiration to us!

Krystal wrote a reount about someone's afternoon. Can you guess who?
My Sunday
It was a nice warm Sunday afternoon. I meowed as loud as a tiger's roar because I wanted inside. One of the owners finally heard me. "Awwwww," said my owner and she walked down the hallway like a zombie and opened the door. She fed me all the goodies in the bucket that would fit in my bowl. I ate my biscuits as slow as a turtle. That is what I did on my nice warm Sunday afternoon.
By Krystal

It was a frosty morning one Saturday. I crawled dejectedly in to the car heading to rugby. We arrived at rugby and the sun was shimmering like precious gold. We played humungous, horrible, huge rugby. I got player of the day. This is how I played on Saturday.
By Blake

It was a cold fizzy morning when I heard a deathly meow and a trollish woof. I was in my snuggly bed when my cat and dog scratched each side of my face. "Ouch!" I yelled. I got up and roared as loud as a werewolf. I stomped down the hallway like a humungous T-Rex. I broke the wall. I opened the door. Bang!! I let my dog and cat out to do their business. It was the messiest day ever.
By Ethan

One lovely Saturday morning I stormed out of my bed and rushed to my bowl.
First, was it full? NOPE! It was empty so I went through the dog door into the house. I raced to my owner barking terribly at her. Woof! My owner finally woke up and slid out of her bed. She moaned like a race car down the hallway and finally fed me. But she didn't feed me what she would usually feed me. That was my fabulous Saturday.
By Katelin

One Sunny sensational Sunday afternoon Mum, my sister, Lucy and I went to the supermarket to buy some food for dinner. Firstly Mum was playing soccer, then we went to the clubs room. It was really fun at the clubs room. Then we went to the supermarket, and went home. I helped Mum with the groceries. We shuffled inside then our cat Fluffy went into the bag... and at lots of meat. "Fluffy! Stop it. Get out." "Meow!" She was as hungry as a mouse and as sneaky as a fly. Bzzzz. So I grabbed Fluffy and I chucked her outside and I said "get out Mr." She didn't stop eating the meat. I smacked her. She is a fantastic, fabulous, fancy cat, but she is naughty.
Now you know about my horrible day.

How to brush your teeth

How to make your teeth ching ching.
Are you sick of dirty disgusting teeth? Well say goodbye to them because I’m here to tell you some instructions to brush your teeth.
Step one. Ram your tooth brush in your hand.
Step two. Get your tooth paste and squirt it onto your tooth brush. Not too much because it would taste like chilli wings.
Step 3. Hold it up to your mouth and ‘brush brush brush brush brush’.
Step 4. When your teeth and ching ching put your tooth brush back and go on your journey away from  home.
That’s how you make your teeth ching ching.

How to brush your teeth.
Do you want to make your dentist happy? Well listen to these instructions to help you brush your teeth.
Step one. Walk to the cupboard as fast as a tiger. When you’re there open the cupboard to get your tooth brush and tooth past out.
Step two. Go into the kitchen so you can brush your dangerously depressingly disgusting yellow teeth. Also get your tooth brush and tooth paste.
Step three. Put a straight smiley silly line on your tooth brush. Why? Because you don’t want people not to like you!
Step four. Put your toothbrush under the cold water for five seconds or less. Start brushing at the top, the left then the right.
Step five. Brush your teeth so you can see your reflection is nice and clean when you go to school. People at your school will say you have nice clean teeth.
Bang!! You’re finished bushing your dusty, disgusting, dangerous teeth.
Now you can use my instructions and tell other people how to brush their teeth.

Anzac drawings.

We used google drawings to create some visual language for Anzac day. Here are just a few of our finished pictures.
We used a green screen app, tagul and google drawings to create our pictures. We chose a filter to change the colour. Some people chose sepia, some chose red (for the blood of war) and some chose to keep theirs in colour.

Pay attention! Do you know that it is showing respect and responsibility to knock on classroom ddors?
Step 1. Collect the message.
Step 2. Teleport to the right place.
Step 3. When you get to the classroom, knock on the door as quietly as a hedgehog.
Step 4. Wait till the teacher says “come in.”
Step 5. Give the teacher the message as quietly as one of Ben 10’s transformers.
Step 6. Wait till the teacher responds.
Step 7. Glide back to your classroom.
Now you know the 7 steps for how to knock on classroom doors.

By Ethan Tagamoa

You need manners! You need them when you go into other classrooms. Here are a few hints to help you take messages without getting growled at by the teachers.
Step one. Listen carefully to the person giving you the message so that you do it properly. It is important because if you just walk in, then you are rude and you will get growled at by the teacher.
Step two. You need to collect the message from your teacher or Julie and then take it to the class it needs to go to. But you have to be as quiet as a mouse. You are not a herd of elephants!
Step three. Hike to the classroom and tiptoe. When you’re at the right place, knock on the door three times. Make sure you are not too quiet, or too loud.
Step four. Once you have finished knocking, quietly tiptoe in and wait for the teacher to respond to you. It is important that you DO NOT call out to her!
Step five. Give her the message. After that, go back to class.
Now you can use my instructions for what to do when you get a message.

Jahnaya's writing

Sir Edmund Hillary is famous because he was the first person to stand at the top of Mount Everest in 1953. Sir Edmund Hillary climbed it with another person called Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. They were the first people to climb to the summit of Mount Everest. Sir Edmund Hillary wanted a friend so he picked Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. On the 4th of January 1957 he went to the South Pole on a tractor. Sir Edmund Hillary is known for being the first person to stand and the North pole and the South pole. He is remembered because he is on the $5 note. He also created the Himalayan trust to help Nepal. He is a terribly cool explorer and he is so famous.

Cross country

What is the hardest thing I have done this week? The senior cross country.
We went to amazing Queens Park to do cross country. The 8 and 9 year olds started at the back of Boys High, and we ran through the little car park. We went through the sparkling tress that were wet from rain. Then we went through the leaves and we heard a teacher saying ‘go, go, go’ and encouraging us to go as fast as a cheetah. Then we saw some sunlight. Some adults were cheering for us. We went past the rubbish bin and that was the finish line. We got a high five, and a kiwi fruit. I am never doing cross country again because I hate running!
By Krystal

Listen up. Do you know what I did yesterday? The cross country. It wasn’t that hard, but I gave it my best. I know people don’t like running but they all gave it their best too. We started near Boys High, then we went behind Boys high.  We went behind a little playground. I was soaked by the rain. The teacher said ‘well done’. I was in fourth place. I had some water and kiwi fruit and I had a big rest. That’s the whole day.

What a great day isn’t it? Oh, I just forgot, it’s Mother’s day. I’m going to tell you some instructions for what to do on Mother’s day.
Step one. Get up and tiptoe as quietly as a mouse in to the kitchen. After you’ve finished tiptoeing in the kitchen you might make a card for her with sparkles on it.
Step two. When you’re finished making your mother a card you might want to do some baking, like pancakes. Put it on a tray. Also, you could make your mother a coffee or a tea.
Step three. When you’re finished making your mother something, give it to her.
Now you can use my instructions for what to do on Mother’s day.

Homework!

Check out this cool homework by Kupa

My family went on a holiday to Kaiteriteri and this photo was taken near Twizel at the salmon farm.
We got to feed the salmon and they were all jumping out of the water to catch the food.
I thought it was amazing that the fish jump out of water, I really enjoyed it.

My homework is about H for holiday.
