curious words

Here is us checking out the new app curious words. It is really tricky to think how we will show these words in a one second clip - but we tried! We loved Kenny's clever idea of green with envy.

Dictionaries!

Today the year 4's got to go to the hall with Barbara. We were excited to see our visitors. The Rotary Club gave all the children their own dictionary to help them with their learning at school. We can't wait to use them in class.

The first time I...

We have been writing about a moment when we did something new.

On one sunny Sunday I went to the airport. I got on the plane and I sat on the seat. I put the belt on. It was about to take off and... boom! It was very fast, it was as fast as a cheetah. It whooshed up. It was very fun.

How to plant a seed

Heres a few tips to plant a seed.
Step one. Get a cup and cotton balls.
Step two. Dampen the soft cotton balls with water.
Step three. Put the green as grass seed in the dampened cup.
Step four. Put eight more cotton balls in the cup.
Step five. Put your name on the cup.
Step six. Put it on the hot as fire window sill.
Step seven. Leave it to grow.
Now you know how to grow a bean seed.

I am successful today because I use a simile.

Here's a few tips about how to grow a bean seed.
Step one. Get a cup as fast as a bird. Get five cotton balls.
Step two. Dampen the cotton balls so your seed has something to drink, but don't forget to squeeze the water out of the cotton balls.
Step three. Put your two seeds in the big cup.
Step four. After that put eight more cotton balls on the top so that the seed can get warm.
Step five. Put some blue tac on the bottom of the cup so that when you open the window it won't fall down. Don't forget to write your name on the cup.
Step six. Put it on the window sill.
That's how you plant your seed.

How to grow green as poison beans

Step one. Get a cup or a flower pot.
Step two. Put your dirt or cotton balls into a cup.
Step three. Tip a bit of water into the cup.
Step four. Put the eye beans on the cotton balls.
Step five. Cover a bit more of the seeds.
Step six. Wait for two or three weeks.
And step seven. Do not!!!! pick it or your hands might kill it.

And breaking news.... I used a metaphor today.

Instruction writing

We are learning to write instructions, and to say why we are successful.

How to arrive at school

If you want to know how to go to school you just have to listen to me.
Step one. Run as fast as a hungry lion into class.
Step two. Walk through the classroom to the cloak bay and hang your dancing bag on your hook.
Step three. Get ready for work and put your book bag away. Then your drink bottle.
Step four. Go outside and play.
Step five. When the bell rings rush into the classroom and work.
That's how you get ready for school.

I am successful because I used language devices.

Let me tell you how to get ready for school.
1. Firstly you have to run as fast as a cheetah to the amazing class to Miss Nielsen.
2. Secondly get your books on your amazingly awesome shimmering shiny shining table.
3. Thirdly get your chair out and stick it at your table.
4. Fourthly go out and hang up you fabulous fantastic fine bag.
5. Fifthly go out and play until the roaring bell rings.
Now you know how to arrive at school.

I am successful today because I used alliteration

Tick, tock. Tick, tock. The clock is ticking.
Step one. Run as fast as a cheetah to the door.
Step two. Walk like a turtle to the class.
Step three. Unzip your bag and get out your book bag.
Step four. Put your book bag in the box.
Step five. Put your bag on the hook.
Step six. Go out to play.
Now you know how to arrive at school.
