Memories

We have been writing wonderful poems about memories. We are learning to use rhymes.

Memories are very special to me
They are as cool as a bee.

I am as bad as a key
A key is as shiny as a bee.

My treasures are very shiny
And some are very tiny.

A fish is very shiny
It looks so tiny.

I have memories in my head
It is like I’m cuddling my bed.

I like sharing them with you
It is like you will spew.

I like looking at my photos
When I’m eating my potatoes.

By Sid

Memories are very important to me,
Like a yellow buzzy bee.

I like looking at my photo,
Its as big as a red tomato.

I remember putting a smile,
On my Mum’s dial.

By Dontae

Memories are important to me,
Some of them have a key.

My treasures are very old,
Some of them turn cold.

The remind me of Bessy,
And she was very messy.

It reminds me to stop
But I just drop.

I have memories in my head,
And they have to go to bed.

I have memories as small as a mouse,
But some of them are as big as a house.

I have a friend called Brian
And he teased a lion.

By Erica

Memories are important to me,
Like a golden key.

I like looking at my photo,
It’s like Pluto

My treasures are very shiny,
They are all miney.

Fabulous writers

The Race Day
Today was the day of the big race. I get my gear. I put my car on the trailer then we shoot off to the race.
Finally we get to the race. I get all my gear on. Suddenly the guy in the tower said the race starts in one minute so I get in the car.
The red light turned to green. I was versing Carne.I told my team mate we were going one hundred miles per hour. We were going through town. They will never catch up.
Yes! We won. In first place its..... Zach's team. My car is as fast as a rocket.
Time to go home.

When I grow up.
As the foot swerves you could feel the wind of the muddy sticky ball. The sweaty stress ran down my face. Goal!
You can guess what I want to be when I grow up. Can you? I'll give you three clues. They're as slick as a burglar.
Clue 1. It's a well known sport. As good as Sonny Bill Williams with his footy with the Roosters, and no it's not rugby. The ball is a hedgehog man.
Clue 2. You are even able to play this on the Queen's front lawn,
"but do not break the windows" she said.
Clue 3. The ball is black and white. The word on it is FIFA.
Can you guess what I want to be when I grow up? Yes, a soccer player.

I was hunting around my old files today and found these memories. Do you see some familiar faces?
This term we are going to be learning about memories; how we record them and share them with others and future generations. For the first couple of weeks of term we will be learning about photography.
Challenge one is to bring along a picture of yourself as a baby. We can scan photos and send them home on the same day- it takes about 2 minutes, so don't worry about losing precious originals. Alternatively you can email pictures to Miss Nielsen

Once there lived a lovely beautiful princess. Her name was Erica. every day Erica always wished that she could go out and sail the whole entire world. One night she sneaked all her stuff she needed. She grabbed lots and lots of healthy yummy food. Off she went on the long journey around the world. Finally she got around the world. While she was sailing she met this man that she loved. They got married and lived happily ever after.
By Rose Marie.

"YOU'RE FIRED!" shouted the Mayor at Mr Tiatia.
"But who's going to replace me?" he asked.

A few moments later I march in. Mr Tiatia said "Him! Why him? He is as dumb as a fridge" He shouted.
"GET OUT" screamed the mayor. The next day I got loud speakers installed.

Monday. On Monday I told everyone to meet in the new battleground. When everyone arrived I had some surprises.

Dragons. When I opened the gate dragons flew out.

But in the end I knew Mr Tiatia was sad so I gave him the school back.

Should it be illegal to sell junk food to children?

These children used their persuasive writing skills to write about junk food. Which side are you on?

What! You think it should be illegal to sell junk food to children! You disgust me.
I think it shouldn't be illegal to sell junk food to children because children are energetic and run around climbing trees. They can burn it off.
My second theory is that if it's not illegal the people that want it to be don't have to buy junk food.
Sugar tastes like heaven. Junk food should stay because if you are too skinny like me you need sugar.
Take that illegalinator!
By Blake.

Most people would agree that children should be able to buy junk food.
Kids should be able to eat junk food. When they've eaten they work out, so they don't get so fat that they'll pop! You have to do exercise if you eat junk food.
It's so yum that it's like little people crawling in your belly.
If you're thin don't worry, it's good to eat junk food.
Everyone should agree with me.
By Ryan

The people that think that junk food should be illegal for children to buy are crazy!
The first reason is that kids run off all the sugar, while adults just sit around.
The second reason is that you need junk food for your health. But you're just not allowed too much of it.
That's why I think that it should not be illegal for children to buy junk food.

Did they convince you? They certainly tried hard to beat me down with their arguments in class.
On wednesday the 28th of August we began on our adventure to the airport on the rickety old bus.The first thing we did was that we went to a big room.we saw a few airplanes land and take off and all that  jazz. Then Taleta(Our instructor) shared with us about the flood in 1984. It was very interesting. Then we went to see where the bags go. Then we swapped with the other people to go to a hanger to see real planes and a flight simulator. We looked at few planes then we went to a room with the flight simulator. It's so real. After that we went in a real plane! Then we met back in the big room. Then we went back to school on the bumpy old bus.

Thanks very much to Karyn Cleary for the pictures :)

Tellagami

This week we discovered we could share our learning with tellagami. We also learned how important punctuation is when people are reading so that it sounds right. Tellagami says some of our names in a funny way.

The four forces of flight. The first thing is thrust.Thrust is going forward, like a racing car. Thrust is another word for forward. The second thing is drag. Drag is not like dragging a plank. It is another word for stop!
The third thing is lift. Lift is not like lifting something. Lift is going up into the sky. Lift is anther word
for up. The last thing is gravity. Gravity is not like you flying! Gravity is going on to the flat ground.
Gravity is anther word for down.So that's all thank you for reading our blog. By Raeffe

Four Forces of Flight Song

Gravity

Check out all this wonderful writing about gravity! There are some very tricky words in here, but the room 7 kids can tell you what they mean if you are a bit stuck.

Gravity is a force.

Really strong.
All things have gravity.
Venus has gravity
It is invisible.
Terrible if we didn't have it.
You have your own gravity.
By Shevin

Gravity helps us to stay on the ground.
Really hard to stay in the air when you jump.
All of us have gravity.
Varying amounts of gravity on different planets.
If you jump you will just fall.
Totally strong
You will fly away if there is no gravity.
By Jorja

Gravity is a force that keeps us on the ground.

Really tricky to stay in the air.
Always fall down if you're trying to float.
Volcanoes stay on the ground.
Invisible gravity, can't smell it, feel it or taste it.
Tables stay on the ground.
You have your own gravity in your body.
By Ryan

Gravity keeps us on the ground.

Really good for us.
All the planets have gravity.
Vast things have lots of gravity.
I have gravity around me.
Think it is invisible.
You have all got some gravity.
By Dillon

Gravity is a strong force.

Rain is affected by gravity.
A table has gravity.
Vast things have gravity.
It's invisible.
Terrible if there was no gravity.
You have all got gravity.
By Tammy

Great at keeping us on the ground.

Really good for us.
Around when the dinosaurs were alive.
Very helpful to us.
It's in the whole universe, even our bodies.
The Earth never loses its gravity.
You can't smell, taste, feel, or hear gravity.

Cross Country

Wow, what a lovely day for the cross country. It was fantastic to see how hard everyone from room 7 tried today. We had lots of children from our class in the top 10 in their age group. Here is a great photo from Conrad's family of the winners of the 7 year old boys race. Can you guess what positions they came in?

Milk in schools

Hey every 2 days we get free milk and we enjoy having it. slurp, slurp.drink it dry, fold it flat, send it back. The milk is made from anchor so it tastes great. So there is a technique to fold it and soon we might have a competition to see who is fastest. And every time we send the milk cartons back they get recycled into things like roof tiles. Thanks Fonterra!!
