Cross country
What is the hardest thing I have done this week? The senior cross country.
We went to amazing Queens Park to do cross country. The 8 and 9 year olds started at the back of Boys High, and we ran through the little car park. We went through the sparkling tress that were wet from rain. Then we went through the leaves and we heard a teacher saying ‘go, go, go’ and encouraging us to go as fast as a cheetah. Then we saw some sunlight. Some adults were cheering for us. We went past the rubbish bin and that was the finish line. We got a high five, and a kiwi fruit. I am never doing cross country again because I hate running!

Listen up. Do you know what I did yesterday? The cross country. It wasn’t that hard, but I gave it my best. I know people don’t like running but they all gave it their best too. We started near Boys High, then we went behind Boys high. We went behind a little playground. I was soaked by the rain. The teacher said ‘well done’. I was in fourth place. I had some water and kiwi fruit and I had a big rest. That’s the whole day.

writing
Do you know how to go to lunch?
Step one. Go to your bag and get your lunch box and go outside.
Step two. Eat your food as quiet as a mouse.
Step three. If you have finished your food go and play.
Step four. Go and get some friends.
Step five. When the bell rings go into class.
Now you know how to go to lunch.

What a great day isn’t it? Oh, I just forgot, it’s Mother’s day. I’m going to tell you some instructions for what to do on Mother’s day.
Step one. Get up and tiptoe as quietly as a mouse in to the kitchen. After you’ve finished tiptoeing in the kitchen you might make a card for her with sparkles on it.
Step two. When you’re finished making your mother a card you might want to do some baking, like pancakes. Put it on a tray. Also, you could make your mother a coffee or a tea.
Step three. When you’re finished making your mother something, give it to her.
Now you can use my instructions for what to do on Mother’s day.

Homework!

My family went on a holiday to Kaiteriteri and this photo was taken near Twizel at the salmon farm.
We got to feed the salmon and they were all jumping out of the water to catch the food.
I thought it was amazing that the fish jump out of water, I really enjoyed it.
My homework is about H for holiday.

We are learning to write instructions
It is a nice sunny day and you have arrived at school. But what will be
your next step?
Step one. Go inside. To go inside you need to open the door into the
hallway. When you are inside, walk quietly.
Step two. Walk to the cloak bay. You need to take off your bag and hang
your bag on your hook.
Step three. Hang your bag quietly and then walk to your classroom and
quietly go inside.
Step four. Do not make noise so that the people who are doing their
work will not be disturbed. Listen to the teachers instructions.
If you follow there instructions you will be the best kid in the whole
school.

It is a fabulous morning, so what are you going to do?Step one. Jump out of the car and run to class as fast as lightning.
Step two. Once you get to your classroom door, open it and unzip your bag.
Step three. Grab your drink bottle and your book bag.
Step four. Put your sparkly drink bottle on the super secret shelf.
Step five. Grab your bulging book bag. When you have done that you put it in the container.
Step six. Walk to the cloak bay and hang your face pulling bag.
Step seven. Walk back to the classroom, and get ready for work.
Those are my amazing steps.
By Mark
It is an awesome day you arrive at school.
Step one. Sprint as fast as a lion to the cloakbay.
Step two. Take off your beautiful blue bag.
Step three. Get your bookbag and drink bottle if you have one.
Step four. Get into the colossal crazy classroom.
Step five. Go and get your dancing book then start writing a million words from your homework book.
Step six. If you have time you can play.
Ring ring! The bell is ringing. So that's how you arrive at school.

How to arrive at School
It is a fantastic morning, and you have arrived at school. What are you going to do next?
Step one. Open the door. If you don't go inside quietly you might hear a boom! boom! boom! when you run.
Step two. Get your bag and put it on your hook. Get your book bag and drink bottle out of your bag.
Step three. Put your drink bottle where your friends drink bottles are.
Step four. When you put your drink bottle away, grab your book bag and put it in the black box.
If you use these fabulous instructions to help you get ready for school, you will be an amazing IMS kid.

ANZAC writing
We have been learning about the soldiers from World War 1, and what it was like for them in the war. Today we wrote 'friendly letters' to our families pretending to be ANZAZ soldiers.
Dear Aunty Phoenix
How are you? I am fin, but I am very scared because I'm in the war fighting for New Zealand. There are lots of soldiers. I am in Gallipoli, which is in Turkey. The ground is very muddy like chocolate, and it's slippery like melting ice. My khaki uniform is very dirty. My feet feel like ice blocks. I can hear missiles booming very loud.
From your niece,
Sierra
Dear Stephen,
How are things going back there in our home town? Things are not going very well here in Gallipoli, Turkey. I have got a feeling that the war should never have started. there are a lot of adversaries and Allies at Gallipoli. The is barely any living grass. It is so depressing, but also good because we are saving New Zealand.
Your friend,
Callum

Astronauts writing
We have been learning to write a collaborative story. We all helped to write this by sharing a document on the google drive.
The Terribly Terrific T Rex.
Once upon a time there was a dinosaur called T Rex. T Rex was very colourful and he had teeth as sharp as sharks teeth. T Rex had scales all over his body, and his scales were very rough.
One day T Rex got chased by an Ankylosaurus. He ran up a tree to escape and the Ankylosaurus tried to push over the tree by whacking it with his bony tail. T Rex was stuck! He yelled out “help!”.
All of a sudden there was a big loud thump. It was coming closer and closer crashing through the trees. It was the Ankylosaurus’ Mum. She was the tallest dinosaur in the world. She growled at the Ankylosaurus and dragged him off home wrapped up tight in her tail.
The TRex was so happy. He looked up and saw his T Rex Dad leaning over him. He sprang out of the tree and hugged his dad.
And that is how T Rex escaped from the Anylosaurus.

curious words
Here is us checking out the new app curious words. It is really tricky to think how we will show these words in a one second clip - but we tried! We loved Kenny's clever idea of green with envy.

Dictionaries!
Today the year 4's got to go to the hall with Barbara. We were excited to see our visitors. The Rotary Club gave all the children their own dictionary to help them with their learning at school. We can't wait to use them in class.

The first time I...
We have been writing about a moment when we did something new.
On one sunny Sunday I went to the airport. I got on the plane and I sat on the seat. I put the belt on. It was about to take off and... boom! It was very fast, it was as fast as a cheetah. It whooshed up. It was very fun.
