Today the year 4's got to go to the hall with Barbara. We were excited to see our visitors. The Rotary Club gave all the children their own dictionary to help them with their learning at school. We can't wait to use them in class.

The first time I...
We have been writing about a moment when we did something new.
On one sunny Sunday I went to the airport. I got on the plane and I sat on the seat. I put the belt on. It was about to take off and... boom! It was very fast, it was as fast as a cheetah. It whooshed up. It was very fun.

Here's a few tips about how to grow a bean seed.
Step one. Get a cup as fast as a bird. Get five cotton balls.
Step two. Dampen the cotton balls so your seed has something to drink, but don't forget to squeeze the water out of the cotton balls.
Step three. Put your two seeds in the big cup.
Step four. After that put eight more cotton balls on the top so that the seed can get warm.
Step five. Put some blue tac on the bottom of the cup so that when you open the window it won't fall down. Don't forget to write your name on the cup.
Step six. Put it on the window sill.
That's how you plant your seed.

If you want to know how to go to school you just have to listen to me.
Step one. Run as fast as a hungry lion into class.
Step two. Walk through the classroom to the cloak bay and hang your dancing bag on your hook.
Step three. Get ready for work and put your book bag away. Then your drink bottle.
Step four. Go outside and play.
Step five. When the bell rings rush into the classroom and work.
That's how you get ready for school.

Chris Malinchak - So Good To Me (Official Video)
We watched this exciting music video today and it inspired us to be fabulous writers.
It was a glorious, sunny, sensational day when I jumped out of bed and got changed with joy. I went sprinting down the stairs and I ran as fast as a cheetah with a huge massive smile on my face. When I got outside my face was melting because my pet was missing. I hunted for him. I got some crayons and some paper and wrote flyers. I was looking for him and knocking on people’s doors. But they hadn’t seen him. I went to climb up the climbing frame and I still couldn’t find him. But…
Something leaned over me. My giraffe had found me! We played hide and seek. I gave him a cuddle. I was so excited and joyful. Now you know all about when I lost my pet giraffe.
By Sierra.
It was a gleaming, shimmering day and it was hot. I got dressed as fast as a cheetah. I rushed down the stairs and out the door. I went to see my pet giraffe but when I got there he was gone. Then I knew just what to do. I made some posters. I put them all over town. When I had put the last ones up I went to the school and found the highest place I could. Suddenly a big black shadow bent it’s neck right over me. I was just about to run away. The I realised the shape of it. It got closer and closer and then it made a giraffe noise. So it could be my giraffe. And guess what? It was! I was so happy to see my giraffe that we played tag. I made sure I had an eye on him, then we went home to have a nice dinner.

He is speedier than me sometimes. I go to his house sometimes. He comes to my house too. He is as tall as me. When I go to his house we play on his computer and he plays with my legos. We have been learning to describe so that our readers can guess our items just from clues. Can you guess what our favourite presents were?
Do you know about my favourite present?
I received my present at night time, just before we ate cke. I had to open it at home. I just could not wait much longer. It was finally time to open my presents. My first present was so BIG. To me it sounded like it was saying "open my Cassie, open me". I ripped the paper like there was no tomorrow. It was fluffy, purple and flat.
"At the moment it's flat because you need to fill it up" said my Mum.
I really wish I could tell you what it is.
By Cassie
Do you want to guess what my favourite present is? It is red and black. It can fly. It is smaller than a bike helmet. It goes faster than a remote control car. It sounds like a buzzy bee. It can go as high as a house. Have you guessed it yet? Do you want me to tell you?
It is a remote controlled helicopter.
By Harrison
Let me tell you about my birthday present. It is as yellow as a banana. It is so cosy and as soft as a blanket. It can be a pillow. We can put some toys and blankets in it.
By Mahalia
Do you know whats in my present? Well I'm going to tell you. I will give you some clues.
It uses a battery. It turns on and off. It has youtube to help me learn six times tables. It has games on it. Do you know what it is now? If you don't, let me tell you some more clues. I play with it every day. It is as big as a writing book. Thats strange. Hopefully I don't have to say it again. Can you guess what it is?
By Cindy
You won't believe how incredible my birthday present was. The big present was waiting outside by the door. It said "To Teneille, Happy birthday, hope you like it". I took the big present into my room and I opened it. I ripped the paper off my present. It was really hard. I was puffed out because it was really heavy to carry. It felt like I was carrying a big mirror. Do you want to know what my present was? It was a laptop. Now you know about my awesome present.

First i was at the shop so Mum was here with me then i wanted to go somewhere that is amazing and i did but I didn’t go with my mum i was shivering like a bug! I could not find her! She was fast like a tiger!.
Then… I found someone that knows where she was but then she couldn’t find her!
i was TERRIFIED! Then it was time to go but i still didn’t find her! Then she found me in the amazing place! how amazing.
thats how i got scared and where i got scared.By Yazmin
Ryan was scared
Hi i’m Ryan.
I am going to tell you about a time I was scared.
One day I was scared of a creepy noise going bo bo bo .
So I went out to the dark ferocious lounge :( .It was as scary as a human getting eaten by a Monster.
It was getting louder and louder. BO BO BO!!!!!.
It was like I was right on top of it.
In fact I was. So I went down stairs into my sisters room. BO BO BO BO!!!!!!
BANG it sounded like it was a nuclear explosion.
I stepped into my Sisters room more. Past the no boys sign. Beside her bed I could see something glowing .So I looked under the blankets and saw my ipod turned on.
Sam must have been playing it. And then I find Sammie in the second lounge. Watching television.
I ran and I ran to Mum and Dads bedroom yelling Sammies up Sammies up
and she got in deep trouble . But that wasn't the end of the curse of the ipod and haunted tv.
That was my very spooky awesome wonderful worst night of my life.
But there was something else lurking in the house...
